Hollamby Estates will be showing its updated plans for Lower Herne Village at public exhibitions on 1st and 2nd October 2014.
The local landowner initially consulted on proposals for new homes, jobs, community facilities and the delivery of the Herne Relief Route in March and April 2014. After analysing feedback from these events and carrying out a range of technical studies, Hollamby Estates is now publishing its draft masterplan for further consultation.
Canterbury City Council recently identified the site as having the potential to help meet the district’s housing need with up to 800 new homes in its draft Local Plan, together with a range of community facilities, employment and other uses to serve the needs of the locality.
The exhibition will give local people a chance to see how feedback has been incorporated into the proposals and to share their views with the Project Team.
Chris Crook from Hollamby Estates, said:
‘Hollamby Estates has been a stakeholder in the local community for many years, and it is thanks to Hollamby that a number of local developments and other infrastructure has been provided already. These proposals for Lower Herne Village are designed to meet local need and make a sustainable contribution to the community, in direct response to the expectations of the emerging Local Plan.
‘Our aim is to create a community that responds to local need and complement the character of the area. We believe, as our extensive market research has shown, that there is great need for well-designed family homes in this area, ranging from two bedroom cottages to larger properties that are suited to the needs of growing families. We have invested heavily in an experienced professional team of advisors to help us develop our vision for the site, and to see it through to completion.
‘We hope that local people will come along to the exhibition and see how their feedback has shaped plans to date, as well as talking to us about their draft masterplan’.
The exhibition will take place at the following dates and times:
Wednesday 1st October 2014 2pm-6pm
Herne Community Centre, St Martin's View, Herne, CT6 7AP
Thursday 2nd October 2014 4pm-8pm
King's Hall, Beacon Hill, Herne Bay, CT6 6BA
